3 Tips For College Students To Start A Nestegg

    May 25, 2018Updated:July 31, 202003 Mins Read

The stereotype says that all college students are broke at all times. We can quickly conjure up the image of the broke college student eating Ramen noodles and waiting on their mother to send them a check to help them get by. This does not have to be the way of the real-life college student though. There are some who are choosing a different path and preparing a nest egg of money for themselves right now.

    Working A Side Hustle

Maybe you do not have enough time to work a full-time job while at the same time maintaining your class schedule. That is understandable enough, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t work at all. As a matter of fact, it is easier now than ever before to find work that fits around your schedule.

Consider some of the side hustle type of jobs that exist for the modern college student to work. There is always the possibility that they can just start to drive around as an Uber driver and earn some extra cash that way. There is the fact that many of them can still go for the classic pizza delivery job. There are even side hustles online while may allow a college student to earn a little extra money doing something that they love.

Pay Attention To Your Interest Rates

A lot of students have to borrow money in order to attend college or to complete their degree. Since this is so commonplace, one might think that it would also be common for students to compare rates from the lending partners that are available to them. Unfortunately, that last part is not nearly as common as it should be. There are many students who borrow money blindly without a real plan for how they will repay it.

It is a good idea to take out the lending papers that are available from each particular offer. Look at the interest rates offered by these different providers and figure out which one really comes out the best for you in the long run. A lot of people fail to do all of that work. When they do not take the time to make sure that all of those bases are covered, they are actually failing themselves in the sense that they are throwing extra money out the window because they have not taken the time to learn more about their student loans.

    Skip Eating Out, Cook More

A final lesson for those who are still in college is that you should skip eating out whenever possible. It is not a good idea to use your money on this when you could just eat at home. You have the ability to make your own food and prepare whatever it is that you desire to eat. Why would you not take advantage of that opportunity and start making some of your favorites? That is a lesson that many college students still need to learn. When they start to do this rather than eat out all the time, they can actually save a lot of money (and perhaps a few pounds!).
