College life is a busy life, and if you don’t have any grants or parents paying your way through, it’s pretty likely you’re going to be looking for some ways to make some money. There are college students that work full time and go to school full time, but that can get pretty tiring. It may be more wise to get part time work, but often that might not make you enough money to get by.
Even if your college expenses are covered, you’re still going to want money for food, and maybe even some money for fun. If that’s the case, here are some things to do to make some spare cash, that are maybe a little more fun or clever than simply working a full time job.
Start Doing Something You Love
Take a cue from this writer, who landed their dream job after breaking their writing chops on a college blog. Think of what it is you would love to do, and look for some kind of work in that field. There are paid internships out there, which can both give you some spare cash and count as college credits.
Write a list of your dream jobs, or even just jobs that you think would be fun. Go from there.
Get A Part Time Job
You can get a part time job, but why not look for one that offers you something you can use. If you are a very personable person, and often have a smile on your face and a cheerful attitude, waiting tables could be a great way to make some decent money in tips. Waiting tables isn’t for everyone though.
Consider a part time job as a stringer for a local newspaper, or doing deliveries by bicycle. These are things that can be fun and make for great life experiences.
Be An Online Writer
You can find online writing gigs writing college papers (which you just might have some experience in), writing paid blog posts, and even ones in which you can help people create amazing resumes (which you’ll want to learn to do once you’re done with college and looking for your future career). They won’t pay enough to live off of, but it will be a decent check every once in awhile to keep your mini fridge stocked with some food.
Be Artistic Or Crafty
If you enjoy creating art or making crafts in your spare time between classes, why not try to make some money on your creations. You can sell them on sites like Etsy and make some spare cash. If you’re creating something people aren’t able to mimic on their own, and you don’t have a lot of competition with other people (everyone can knit or crochet), you might just become a popular seller. There are people out there that make a living on the items they sell on Etsy, and on other sites like Amazon and Ebay.
